Jan Van Der Spiegel (University of Pennsylvania) |
Jan Van Der Spiegel received his Masters and Ph.D. degrees in
Electrical Engineering from the University of Leuven, Belgium, in
1974 and 1979, respectively. He joined the University of
Pennsylvania in 1981 where he is currently a professor in the
Department of Electrical and Systems Engineering and the director of
the Center for Sensor Technologies. His research interests are in
mixed-mode VLSI design, biologically based sensors and sensory
information processing systems, micro-sensor technology, and
analog-to-digital converters. He is the author of over 190 journal
and conference papers and holds 4 patents. Van der Spiegel is a
Fellow of the IEEE and the recipient of the IEEE Third Millennium
Medal, the UPS Foundation Distinguished Education Chair and the
Bicentennial Class of 1940 Term Chair. He also received the IEEE
Educational Activities Board Major Educational Innovation Award. Van
der Spiegel was the program chair of the 2007 International
Solid-State Circuit Conference and has also served on the Technology
Directions and the Executive Committees of the ISSCC. He is
currently the chair of the Student Research Preview committee and is
the Chapters Chairs coordinator of the IEEE Solid-State Circuits
Society (SSCS).
